What happens when you combine AWS cloud architecture, Spot the robot dog, and a team of 8–11 year-old girls? You help a paralysed photographer achieve a world first: directing a high-fashion photoshoot remotely, in real time. In this talk, I’ll share how we used an AWS STS VPN to connect a custom built control board to the robot to give the photographer the tools to control Spot over 4G with millisecond latency – turning a complex robotics challenge into an empowering social impact project. Along the way, we navigated no budget, custom hardware builds, and innovative problem-solving, all while inspiring the next generation of women in tech.
