The journey from traditional machine learning models to AI systems demands a new, specialised set of operational practices. This talk traces the evolution of core DevOps principles from the decade of MLOps to the Agents era, where we must plan for deploying and maintaining autonomous, multi-step AI agents that can reason, plan, and take actions in the real world using external tools.
The talk will show how classic DevOps tenets like continuous deployment must be radically re-engineered to tackle core AgentOps challenges. Drawing on The Databricks Big Book of AgentOps, it will cover:

- Distributed tracing and observability: transforming single-step I/O logs into the traces essential for debugging and explaining agent behaviour.
- Governed deployment and rollback: establishing AgentOps CI/CD pipelines that treat configurations — prompts, tools, routing logic — as code.
